Seine River Beluga

If you didn't know, there has recently been a beluga whale in the Seine River, far away from its natural habitat. The whale was spotted slowly making its way up the river, about a little over a week ago, on August 2nd. Veterinarians say that the beluga was thin and appeared to be in poor health, which led them to conclude that it had been deteriorating for some time. When people tried to feed it, the whale didn't seem interested in eating, perhaps too weak to eat. Vets injected it with steroids and antibiotics, but it still didn't eat. The whale was captured and put in a saltwater tank to be transported to a safer habitat, where it could be nursed back to health. During transport, however, the whale had to be euthanized due to its health. The whale was about a third smaller than the size for a healthy beluga. It also had a hard time breathing.

Many people are debating on why and how this beluga managed to go to the river. I think that it was a mix of climate change melting the whale's habitat, as well as the whale being sick or injured. The climate change would have forced the whale out of its habitat, which in turn made it get injured somehow because it didn't know how to survive in a completely new area.

Here is a video of the whale:
