One Question that I have been wondering for a while is how and where aquarium fish are caught. Many freshwater tropical fish come from the Rio Negro river. The most common fish there are cardinal tetra, which are very common in home aquariums, alongside many other species. Many people take a boat down a river and catch fish by hand to sell. Some people use large nets to catch lots of fish at one time. The interesting thing is that studies show that these don't have a measurable impact on the ecosystem there.
Other places are similar to the Rio Negro. Some types of fish are bred in farms, where they are sent and shipped to stores when fully grown.
