Barracudas are a large, predatory fish that likes to live in tropical areas. They live at the top of the water, near coral reefs, or in sea grasses. Most barracuda species have underbites. They are usually dark green, dark gray, white, or blue. They normally live in oceans, but some species like to live in brackish water. (Brackish water being sort of a mix between freshwater and saltwater.) There are about 29 barracuda species. They rely on short bursts of speed to catch prey, going up to 24 miles per hour. They like to eat small fish by biting them in half. They rely heavily on their vision. Barracudas swim in packs when they are young, but like to swim alone as adults. Sometimes they like to herd fish into shallow or compact areas to feed on them easily. Barracuda are also popular in sport fishing and as food. They are also the fish that ate Nemo's mom.
