- Baleen

- Baleen is a filter feeding system where the whale sucks up water, and the baleen filters the krill and plankton.

- Rostrum

- The rostrum is a part of the head where the teeth, palate, and nasal cavity are.

- Splashguard

- The splashguard is a raised area in front of the blowhole so water doesn't get in when the whale breathes.

- Blowhole

- A blowhole is a hole at the top of a whale's head that lets it breathe air

- Ventral Grooves

- Ventral grooves are creases that run vertically down the bottom of a whales jaw to the stomach. These stretch open when a whale opens its mouth.

- Flippers

- Flippers are broad, flattened limbs used for moving in the water. For whales, flippers only refer to the forelimbs.

- Dorsal Fin

- The dorsal fin helps whales move in water more efficiently

- Dorsal Ridge

- Some whales have a line of knuckles along their back instead of a dorsal fin

- Tail Stock

- A narrow, muscular part of a whale's tail between the body and tail flukes

- Flukes

- Flukes are another word for a whale's tail
